Honora There is a route. We have done most of it but not a very short bit of the middle section. The crux is climbing out of Big Gully and then crossing the next gully 100m south of where you climb up to the dege.. It is deeply incised.and we were only able to cross it at one point which fortunately is on the line of travel. The last time we used a fallen branch as a ladder to climb out of it!

biship Honora, so how far beyond Worsley pass looks trackable? I guess the Tawhana Stream gorges about a 1.5km past the 989 saddle? It would be fantastic if a route existed on the TR, then sidles up the TL of Koropuku Creek - joining around 760 above the big gully near the rope.

Honora Yes, just come back (Oct, 2015) and there are signs that people are using the track. We did a bit more work on the flat boggy terrace at the start of the track and Frank permolatted right up to the start of the climb up the face of the hill. I cut up to the scrubby section but unfortunately I was on my own and had no idea where the track went after that! But we'll be back to reclarify it sometime soon. The track begins to sidle just after the 1000m contour anyway...

Honora I realise now that originally all those years ago, we hadn't lost the track coming down. We were actually on it but it had disappeared. I hope someone goes up it sometime...

Honora We've cut that track in the Koropuku Valley now too! No more stories of people camping out just short of the hut (downstream anyway!).

Honora Cheers, Ancient Tramper. Hope you can get there and check it out sometime. Frank and I have now cut and cruise-taped the lost section just uphill of the swamp. We found 2 more permolat markers but they were just at the start. It now goes along a deer trail onto a knob then along that for a bit, sidling onto where the last known point of the track was, before it disappeared.
