Wilkinson hut April 2012

This pic was taken last month when travelling from Prices Basin to Prices Flat. I needed to head up to Wilkinson to use the swingbridge because the Whitcombe river was too high to ford down near Pahlow Creek where the Prices Basin route hits the river. This unplanned diversion added a couple of hours to the trip but it was good to see the hut again for the first time since 1975. It also gave the opportunity to take some photos which I didn't do back in 75.
Wilkinson hut looks to be in good condition. It is now about fifty-five years old having been built in 1957. The low doorway triggered memories when I ducked my head but still bumped my pack on the low door frame. I note that it is some times referred to as "Hobbit hut" these days.
