New type of DOC marker?
Ran into this handiwork a couple of days ago when going from Otaki Forks up to Field Hut about 20 min from Field. It's directly opposite a DOC marker on the track.
The mind boggles...best entry as to what it is gets to take it home!

iangeorge Just got back from a walk in the Swiss Alps (Chamonix-Zermatt) and this type of sculpture was quite common there. Tree stumps would be carved into a Christmas tree, Marmot, crucifix, chair, etc. I guess it showed off the prowess (or boredom) of the person with the chainsaw. And more entertaining to look at than a square cut tree stump.
