Old Woman hut in the Old Woman conservation area. This is at the NW end of a continuous extent of crown land (ex-high country farmland) runs from Duffers Saddle above Cromwell to to headwaters of the Pomahaka behind Roxburgh. Old farm tracks provide a network of routes for tramping, mountain biking, horse riding, cross-country skiing, snowmobile access and in some cases 4WD. There are 4 official huts in the park: Old Woman, Nicholson, Boundary and Junction Huts - along with a larger number of historic or dilapidated structures.

To the west legal access routes run all the way to join this to the Remarkables conservation area - passing the historic Glen Roy Raceman's hut on the way.
