This photo shows the "old" Lower Arahura hut as it was in January 1976 when it had recently received a replacement chimney.

This hut was removed in February 2010 after DOC had replaced it with the new 6 bunker 30m to the East. The floor, roof & cladding from the old hut was reused in a "new" hut on Mt Brown. DOC donated the old hut to The Mt Brown Hut Community Project Team who demolished the old hut & built a magnificent "new" hut on a stunning site on Mt Brown ridge.
