Yesterday morning I took advantage of the first nice day for a while to head up Mt Tuhua which is east of Lake Kaniere behind Hokitika. There is a track & snow poles leading to the summit on which sits a trig. Being set back from the main ranges Mt Tuhua commands great views.

This pic was taken on the way up and looks across the Newton Range to the main divide. The snow was ankle deep from the bush edge, powdery and dry. The black image in the foreground is my dog who relished her second trip up Tuhua.
