Port Craig Hut
This very nice DoC hut contains 19 bunks. This is the hut used during Winter on Hump Ridge Track at Port Craig, or while tramping the south coastal track. This was a former school, and even in winter, it's quite warm !

glennj Thanks for posting this pic. I'd been wondering if the old school house was still the hut at Port Craig or if it had been replaced by a modern hut. It looks as if it is being well maintained. It must be 80+ years old now. The last remaining building from a town that serviced what was the largest sawmill in NZ back in the late 1920's!
