• glennj Visited this hut last December. The views on the way to and beyond the hut exceeded my expectations. Being set back from the main mountain ranges you get a different perspective than when in amongst it all close to the main divide. You get good views of the head of the Waimakariri River etc. We were pleasantly surprised to see two Kakariki near the hut and to have a young chamois walk right up to us when continuing beyond the hut up Hut Spur.
