Going over Bannister

Probably the hardest bit of ridge ive seen in the Tararuas
(including southern crossing, main range, northern crossing) very up and down and steep, lots of clambering up steep faces - but in Tararua style theres always some grass to hold onto.

athlete272 Challenging section of the Tararua's indeed, not to be underestimated. Did this in winter, enjoyed the remote feeling of accomplishment once standing on top of Bannister.

John Saunders Great shot, describes the Tararua tops experience quite well. This route is on my "to do" list for next summer.
