Dorset Ridge Hut
Dorset Ridge Hut in the central Tararuas. The hut looks across Dorset Creek to Baldy and The Kings. It is accessed down the broad Dorset Ridge from Tarn Hut, or along very rough unmaintained tracks via Park Forks from Carkeek Hut, Nichols Hut or McGregor Biv. A small tarn lies on the broad ridge above the hut - unlike Tarn Hut which appears completely tarn-less.

OldGoat The hut has been upgraded with a new porch , windows and insulation , roofing, log fire , stainless benches and other mod cons like a flash toilet with lighting..All the work was done by members of the Horowhenua Hunting Club and all materials were flown to the site by Amalgamated Helicopters (phone 06 378 9600 Sally&Jason Diederich)who also removed a mountain of rubbish from the site
