Looking across Porters Pass in the Canterbury high country. Kowai Forest is a very accessible point from which to explore this area. Ben More is 1655m and the highest point. Foggy Pk, as part of the Torlesse Range reaches 1741m.

  • Ancient Tramper Always surprising how high these 'foothills' are. Probably because you get such a great start climbing from Porters Pass at 949m! Porters Pass is actually higher than Arthurs Pass, 920m. Castle Hill Peak, about 3 km north from Foggy Peak, is the highest point of the range. At a respectable 1998m it is not much below the Craigieburn tops.
