Starting from the Mount Fyffe car park, the Hinau Track is a short loop through a forest featuring hinau trees. These are identified by their long thin leaves, small white flowers, and purple fruit or drupes. The track also provides views of the Kowhai River, which changed course in 1993 to flood directly through central Kaikoura.
