Hopeless Creek Hut

Hopeless Creek Hut

A 40+ yr old hut nestled on the valley floor, 2 hours up the valley from the turn-off in the Travers.Has 8 bunks but can sleep 12 if you don't mind the floor in an added on room away from the warmth of the wood stove.Hopeless Creek supplies you with all the water you need just a few steps away.Built by the N.Z. Alpine Club and opened by Sir Ed. There is a track from Hopeless Creek Hut(1040m) leading to the tops and Sunset Saddle(1890m) and on to Angelus Hut(1650m),this is a fine weather alpine crossing.Hopeless creek is heavily bluffed in its head and good visibility is essential for this route.
