Too close to the road to be a useful hut really but very well appointed and a good stop for a cup of tea in bad weather before going on to the car

ledge I enjoyed your comment about M hut good for a cuppa tea. I'm sure I've swallowed more cups of tea in Mangatepopo Hut (& spent more nights) than any other hut in 30+ years tramping.
This only proves how severe the weather on Mangatepopo (or is it Ngauruhoe) Saddle can get. Many times our party has had to retreat back to this hut, and wait it out.
