Located East of Mt Pirongia (959m) and on Ruapane-Tirohanga Track accessible via Grey Road car park, Natural Trail (about 10 minutes from Pirongia Township). An interesting loop can be done with an overnight stay at Pahautea Hut which sleeps 6 to 8 ( also about 6 pleasant tentsites near by). In the morning, head back up to the summit view tower, down to Mahaukura, then onto Mahaukura Track taking you back to Grey Road car park. Carry extra food ie fruit&nut bars just in case. I was caught up with bad weather and spent two extra nights there.
