The Goldie Bush Walkway itself is not particularly interesting. However, it combines with the Mokoroa Stream and Mokoroa Falls Tracks to make a good circuit. It can also be connected to the Te Henga Walkway via a 20 minute walk along Constable Road -- if you can arrange end-to-end transport.
Take Wairere Road west from Waitakere onto Horseman Road, and locate the car park before the road end. An easy track leads into the dry forest of Goldie Bush Scenic Reserve, passing a track to the Mokoroa Falls on the right (this is a worthwhile 1 hour side trip). The track continues through open and unspectacular kauri forest. A set of steps leads down quickly to the Motoroa Stream. You will get your feet wet here crossing the pretty stream on a mudstone platform. From here, the Mokoroa Stream Track offers a return option, and the main track climbs easily through the young kauri of Motutara Scenic Reserve and onto Constable Road.
If you are connecting to the Te Henga Walkway, turn left and follow the road for 600m.
