Keeping away from the maddening crowd as much as possible,we headed down to Doughboy Bay.Paradise.Watched kiwi and did a little rubbish collecting.Saw not a soul for a week.Back-tracked to Mason Bay(and people) and eventually tramped back to Oban,arriving Christmas morning.A 14 day tramp we`d recommend.Next time,we`ll arrange an airdrop to reduce our pack weights.The hunters`huts on the island are available to trampers,when not booked by hunters.DOC are happy to advise on these,but these huts can give you more options.We always pack a tent,just in case.
