Northwest Circuit, Rakiura, over Christmas and New Year 2000-01 The changeable weather was impressed. Good views of Smoky Beach from lunch spot which was sheltered by a ground sheet and two 6m light nylon wires. Great spot for bird watching. Smoky River can be crossed at low tide (up to mid thighs).
