There are the remains of an old sawmill in the headwaters of Boatmans Creek. This sawmill commenced operating in 1933 and cut mining timber. There was no road to it and sawn timber was floated out down a rater race. A pipe line off the water race fed water to drive a pelton wheel to power the sawmill. (the pelton wheel is still at the site)

It is less than 1½ kms off the Kirwans track to reach this site. The going is rough in places because of old windthrow and steepness. You can either follow the water race from near the Boatmans - Topfer Ck junction, drop down to the south from the Kirwans track or come through the saddle from Station Creek.
