James Vogel Track

This short walk explores the forest next to the Mistletoe Bay campground in Queen Charlotte Sound. The track loops into the forest from the lower campground, returning to the access road higher up the hill. There is access to the campground and foreshore for day visitors.

From the campground, the marked track enters tall forest of tawa, pukatea, and ferns, climbing easily onto a dry ridge of beech forest. Here, a track branches off uphill to the Queen Charlotte Track. You can also make your way up to the Onahau Lookout. The James Vogel Track drops back downhill through pretty forest to the road.
