The high point of the Te Araroa Trail.We,like most,used the ridge behind the boys,rather than the Camp Stream Gully.Quite a ground trail forming with 2000(majority SOBO,south bound) expected to walk the 3000km this summer.We were only part timers,pulling the pin at Mesopotamia Station in the Rangitata.On some days we encountered 20 trampers,families,old codgers like me,whippersnappers,a few Kiwis & the United Nations making up the bulk of them.Good to see.One chap,Stu Bilby,I`d met before-an ultralighter,his pack weighed 4kg without his tucker.Eat ya heart out!
