During February 2017, forest fires burned much of Ohinetahi Reserve, including the majority of the Totara Log Track. Conditions on the ground are variable as the land recovers.

The Totara Log Track sets off from below the Mount Ada bluffs on Ellas Track. A quick drop onto a grassy spur before sidling past what was once kānuka forest, then the track enters welcome bush and crosses the Bivvy Track. The forest is low and ferny, soon passing through a patch of coprosma scrub and joining the Bush Road Track.

Return back up the Bush Road Track.
