The Farm Track is one of several options to climb Mount Vernon Park. This route sticks to the dry ridge, and makes for a quick and easy climb with good views. Make a loop by coming back via the Rapaki or Dry Bush Tracks.
From Mount Vernon Farm car park at the end of The Crescent in Hillsborough, take the Dry Ridge track up onto the ridge (5 minutes).
A rocky track heads uphill past a plane table, through a farm gate. From here, the track follows a fenceline up the ridge. After 20 minutes or so, the unmarked Pylon Track turns off left. This is a vehicle track built to service the electrical pylons that light up Christchurch city. From here, it's a solid climb past a view of Dry Bush and some farm paddocks to the car park.
