Tarn on Tara Tama Range
1 member favourited
This Westland range has many nice tarns. This is one of the nicer ones IMO. It is situated on the ridge section between Scottys & Griffin Creeks.
If looking south east you can photograph reflections of Mt Tara Tama in this tarn. This view however is from a different direction looking north over Mt McInerney, the Taramakau River and the flanks of the Hohonu Range toward Lake Brunner.
I passed this tarn twice on the day of the photo which was taken in the afternoon. Early morning when I was there I spooked two chamois beside the tarn.

Honora I've camped here a couple of times for unsuccessful climbs of Tara Tama. We climbed it successfully from Dunns Ck hut though.
