Traditionally, the Kennedys Bush Track turns out on the Summit Road at a large car park north of Mount Ada. Newer descriptions of the track lead to a small car park on a bend just west of here. This car park is right on the corner of Kennedys Bush, and offers a distinct advantage: the Kennedys Bush Track actually reaches Kennedys Bush.
From the car park, a sign indicates the Holdsworth Trail. This leads easily through harakeke and gorse for a few minutes before entering forest. Touching the road briefly, the track sidles through forest to a hairpin bend on the Orongomai Trail just below the Sign of the Bellbird shelter.
Forest sections of this track are well worth walking in their own right, not merely as a link.
