This short track runs parallel with Mitchells Track. Combine these tracks for a cool forest loop beneath Sugarloaf, or combine with Cedrics Track for the tussock contrast of Sugarloaf's northern slopes.
Car parks are located both east and west of Sugarloaf. From the eastern car park, take Cedrics Track for a couple minutes to the start of Gilpins Track. From the western car park at the Sign of the Kiwi, take Mitchells Track for a couple minutes to the end of Gilpins Track. The notes here are east to west.
From Cedrics Track, Gilpins Track branches into forest of mahoe, tÅtara, mapou, five finger. The track soon passes a couple of stone seats, leading under bluffs and out onto scrub. A zigzag downhill leads out to Mitchells Track.
