On our 7 day tramp from St Arnaud to the Boyle,one of few fine,sunny times was on this saddle,an hour or two up from Upper Travers Hut.The hut was chocka with mostly Ozzies & Europeans either doing the TA but mostly the Travers/Sabine circuit. The norovirus outbreak the previous week had some benefits;the chemist got some extra trade & DOC had given several huts a real birthday-squeaky clean.Waiau Pass allowed us through,just,before NW rain chased us down the Waiau River to Caroline Creek.
