If lying on the beach at Piha is not your idea of a good time, this is the track for you. Combine it with the Rose Track and Laird Thomson Track for a nice circuit, and throw in a visit to Whites Beach while you're there.

From North Piha, locate the Marawhara Stream bridge by the surf club. Follow the Marawhara Walk into the picnic area and cross the stream on stepping stones. White Track starts here.

The smooth track climbs easily under light palm and pohutukawa forest. Gradually the forest changes, but the climb persists, offering views across Whakatai Stream in behind North Piha. Near the top, the track eases onto a grassy vehicle track through windshorn coastal scrub. The track meets a gate out onto the gravelled Anawhata Road.

Connecting tracks

  • From North Piha Road, take Marawhara Walk to the start.
  • Rose Track is a driveway leading down to the beach. It is private, but open for walking access. Find it immediately on the left from the top of White Track.
