I took this picture from beside the lake a few minutes before parking at the Mt Tuhua track carpark and setting out to climb the hill. [It was a lovely morning on the tops with clear skies and calf deep fresh powdery snow]

The mountains straight ahead are the northern end of the Toaroha Range and the ones further right are part of the Diedrich Range.

The map pointers mark where the photo was taken from at Hans Bay, Lake Kaniere and the summit of Mt Tuhua where I walked to.
