FMC Partnerships Workshop
" Huts and Tracks" was the main focus. How to do more for less when it comes to spending the money elements of DoC have given back to us, the owners, to conserve the hut and track network. DoC can't do it all themselves. Over 100 people came from around NZ to share the energy and ideas! Quite a few of these presenters in the montage are contributors to these forums, and many more were there without a formal role. Meeting so many was the highlight for me.

Honora Yes, great to put so many faces to the names and meet others again. We ended up sitting with IanGeorge who my brother had helped a bit with his excellent Flora Hut project. It will indeed be a great thing if we can utilise this great website for publicising and coordinating volunteering. Frank and I are great fans of just going out and doing it!

matthew Interesting event and good to be present at it. Great opportunity to meet so many of you and chat. I came away with a few ideas I'd like to pursue in future, in particular, ways to facilitate volunteering.

glennj Matthew Walker you get a separate paragraph. It was nice to be able to have a decent length chat with you face to face for the first time after a bit of interaction on here over the years. This web site is important to the tramping community and you do a great job!

glennj It was good to be able to be there until afternoon tea time. There were interesting speakers and generally the content was encouraging. A bit more is being done around the place with older huts than I'd realised. I didn't have a yarn with you Hugh as you seemed busy with video or other camera. It was a bit like a "reunion" during the breaks. I noted five Hokitika people there plus a similar number of former residents. It was nice to put a face to "IanGeorge" from this forum for the first time. It was also good to meet Honora and Frank whose names I've seen about the place so often but had never met in the scrub.
