Catchpool Valley Campsite
Rimutaka Forest Park
Extensive drive-in campsite in the Catchpool Valley: a hub for short walks and overnight trips into the Orongorongo Valley.
The campsite features flush toilets and hot showers. The campsite has a large cooking shelter and emergency telephone. The campsite is wheelchair-accessible.
Dogs on leash are permitted. There is a dog exercise area nearby. Fees are $10/night for adults, $5/night for children.

Getting there

Catchpool Valley is 45 minutes from Wellington. Heading out of Wellington on SH2, turn off at the Hutt Valley and head through Wainuiomata. Follow the Main Road which becomes the Coast Road for about 15 minutes, and watch for the signposted park entrance on the left.
Note that Catchpool Valley gates are closed 8pm-6am summer and 6pm-6am winter. A ford on the road may become impassible in flood. |
