A stunning walk alongside the river takes you to Te Puia Lodge (2.5 hrs), the Mangatainoka hot pools (3hrs 15), Makino Hut (4.5 hrs) and beyond. Excellent riverside camping at the lodge and hot pools, although both can get a little chaotic over summer. Plenty of great places to cool off in the river and/or stop for lunch.
