Anatoki Forks Hut to Boulder Lake Hut

  • 1 day return by the same track
  • Hard

An off-track route description for a "direct" one-day connection between these two huts. Could be used to create numerous loop trips either with just these two huts or extending to take in the Dragons Teeth or even adding on Waingaro Forks and Fenella to make a giant round trip?

Starting at Anatoki Forks Hut follow the track back down the Anatoki River for 5-10mins, then bash down to the Anatoki River itself at approximately the location of the old Anatoki Forks Hut remains (Grid Ref: 673 682).

Cross the river, gain the river terrace on the true left and continue following the river down to the second (unnamed) side stream.

Follow this side stream all the way up to a saddle between points 1407 and 1348, which connects into the Snow River.

Once at the saddle head South West and gain the ridge. Follow this in a semi-circle over pt 1407, 1452 and on to Caesar Knob. Once just past Caesar Knob, drop to the spur that runs parallel and just North of Ambrose Creek.

There is a final short section of bush bashing required to reach Boulder Lake Hut.
