One of the nicest short walks in the Kawekas - Makahu Saddle to Kaweka Flats biv. Established beech forest gives way to manuka scrub and a classic Kaweka clay pan climb. There's even an (easy) crossing of the Donald thrown in - plenty of spots for a dip on a hot day. Allow a couple of hours each way at a leisurely pace.
