The ridgeline 500m west of Te Ranganuiatoi at the saddle of the Okapua and Raukokore. We sidled south round the western face of the peak - steep, tangled, tough going. Maybe following the ridge to the summit, or dropping into the headwaters of the creek to the south would have been better ... who knows?
The saddle SW of Te Ranganuiatoi is likewise clear and open for those crossing into the Huitatariki. Things only get worse when you start to descend into the river head ...
