Te araroa

Hi everybody My family and I have this ambitious dream of doing the Te araroa as a family (one island at a time). Although I have hiked multiday treks (abel tasman, Waikaremoana and Hillary trail) I have not done so with the whole family. I will need light gear for all of us and any tips are greatly welcome. Of course we will do a few multi day tramps before but this is something quite different. Has anybody done this with a family? Any tips? My kids are sporty and older (17, 15 and 10) and we are planning to do this in a years time - so plenty of time to plan, research and train :-)
Hello. I've no specific tips, but as I do for everyone else who asks about Te Araroa I'll throw in a pointer to the Te Araroa Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/26638669574/ It seems to be a common place for those who've walked and intend to walk it for hanging out.
Thank you izogi I will certainly hang out there occasionally to get some ideas. I looked at some blogs of people who have done it but so far haven't come across anyone who has done it as a family. But I am only at the beginning of enquiry and research. Cheers Pia
