Getting there

A track branches off the Te Ararora trail about 30 minutes up from Lower Wairaki Hut. Follow the track the whole way up the true left of the Wairaki River to Upper Wairaki Hut. Alternatively, an unmarked route climbs up from the Telford Burn to Bull Basin, then drops down valley to reach the hut via a bit of scrub bashing. See Moir's Guide South for route notes. |
