Information may be incorrect: you are not viewing the latest version of this page. This version ID 11044 created 28 July 201128 July 2011 by glennjglennj.

A nice hut built in 1986. It is named after NZ Forest Service Ranger Ces Clark who was in charge of developing recreational facilities, preserving historic sites etc in the Northern District of the Westland Conservancy back in the 70's until his death in 1986.

This hut is on the Croesus track immediately above the old Top hut which is still there. It can be day tripped from the Blackball end though many people choose to stay the night before returning the same way. It is a popular lodging for those heading thru the Croesus track.

Getting there
Getting there
1/Usual access is via the Croesus track from the Blackball or Barrytown ends. 2/There are tops access routes from North & South on the Paparoa Range that link with the Croesus track. A circuit route involving the Moonlight track to the North is poled along the tops. To the south there is one scrubby dip that is rough going but apart from that it is a nice traverse down the range to the road at Paparoa Peak. 3/An old unmaintained miners route goes from Garden Gully through to Moonlight Creek.
