Brewster Hut
An alpine hut in the Haast Pass area between Mt Armstrong and the highway. This hut is only a few years old and replaced a smaller hut that was close by. The hut gets a lot of use being in a tourist area and being only a couple of hours from a main road. It is well worth a visit as the area is very scenic and there are some good walks that can be done using the hut as a base.

Getting there

From the Fantail Falls carpark on SH 6 approx 3.5kms on the West Coast side of the Haast Pass. After a ford near the start it is a steady up hill to the hut. Takes approx 2hrs up and is quicker coming down. The track is well marked the whole way. |
