Top Maropea Hut

A gem of an old NZFS hut built in the 60s or 70s for deer cullers, this hut is a bit drafty, however, lovely. Westerlies rip through the area, but it offers stunning views to the east of the Ruahines. Recently repainted, it stands out from the podocarp forest beautifully.

Access Access to this hut is up along the Maropea riverbed to the track that leads to the hut or, more commonly, from Sunrise hut via Armstrong Saddle on the well trod track.
