Information may be incorrect: you are not viewing the latest version of this page. This version ID 3854 created 30 March 200830 March 2008 by pmckepmcke.

This hut was built by the Otago Ski Club in the 1950s in an unsuccessful attempt to develop a ski field on the Rock and Pillar range. The hut was abandoned then taken over by the Otado Tramping and Mountaineering Club in the 1980s.

More recently is has been passed on to a private Trust who have restored the hut to its former glory.

It has a capacity of 40 bunks though one bunk room is still being worked on. The trust allows casual groups of up to 6 to use the hut for $10 per person a night. Larger groups need to book. Contact 027-4358311 voice or text
