Dillons Hut
The New Dillons Hut (sleeps 10, stove, tank water) lies in the middle reaches of the Taipo valley, 10 minutes upstream from the historic Dillons Homestead. It presumably aimed to replace this character-laden historic building - however, the storm of protest this provoked seems to have ensured that the old hut will also remain.
This is a characterless modern tramping hut - weathertight, rodentproof but lacking the feel of the old place (and also lacking the mice). Look at them both, they're only 10 minute apart, and make your choice ...
