hello everybody, i am curious to know if anybody has some great tasting, easy to make tramping recipes, also any ideas on food that is avaliable from supermarkets that is light, tastes good and fills you up. especially interested in evening meals and food that can be eaten for lunch. cheers

For the Continental Pastas: if they direct you to add milk, I just stir in milk powder at the end otherwise it can catch and burn on the bottom of the pot.
In reference to Continental Pastas: I managed to make some milk up with a few teaspoons of milk powder while I was waiting for the snow to melt on the MSR in Rangiwahia Hut

I'm not a regular tramper by any means but here are few things I do like when I am on the track.
Breakfast:
Instant porridge mixed with hot chocolate and raw peanuts
Lunch:
Nothing interesting to report
Entrees:
The instant soup noodle packs with the flat noodles tom yum flavour etc
Dinners:
A sachet or two of curry paste
an onion or two
Coconut milk powder
Instant noodles (the 'real deal' thai/malay/indo versions with all the flavour sachets)
Dehy tofu (be careful on eating dehy tofu regularly unless you want to be ahem unregular)/salami/tuna
Surprise peas
-mix as required (note onions and curry paste frying in a hut will bring withering food jealousy) :)
Dehy tofu (use with caution)...must keep an eye out for that. Bacon arouses withering food jealousy big time! I suspect some sadists deliberately bring it along to get all us muesli munchers going...
