Dumpling Hut

For Dumpling Hut
Alert Predator control for Clinton, Arthur and Cleddau valleys

We plan to distribute toxic bait pellets containing 1080 by helicopter on two days on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 May 2024, depending on the weather.

  • Huts will remain open.
  • Tracks will be closed while sowing takes place overhead. During toxin phase, the Milford Track and Glade Nature Walk will also be closed a little longer while tracks are cleared of baits. People walking the Milford Track will still be able to complete the next leg of their walk.
    • The Milford Track will be closed in sections while sowing takes place overhead. This may mean a short wait at the hut on a given day, but trampers will still have time to get to the next hut, or their boat at Sandfly Point. Sowing will take place over two days. Most walkers will only be affected on one day of their walk.  DOC staff will be present at huts to explain any restrictions.
    • The Glade Nature Walk will be closed until around 11:30 am.
    • Tutoko, Grave-Talbot and Dore Pass tracks will remain closed for the day of sowing, and for 24 hours following toxin distribution.
  • High-use tracks will be cleared of toxic bait.

Once the bait has been distributed, it's not safe to hunt for food or have your dog in this area for up to 8 months. Warning signs and this web alert will be removed once the area is safe again.
