The track starts at the hairpin bend on Cobb Dam Road past the power station. It climbs gently above the Takaka River, passing the old asbestos mine after 1 hour. The hut, once home of Henry and Annie Chaffey, is a further 30 minutes.
Tracks continue on to Lower Junction on the Takaka River.
