This trip starts at the head of Lake Gunn, it is a hard bush bash all the way to the mouth of Melita Stream, then climb up the true right of the Melita Falls and up into the hanging valley of Melita Stream once you reach the open valley follow the stream all the way to the head of the valley and climb up the small saddle, from the saddle it is a very steep descent into Falls Creek, be careful not to get bluffed out when heading down to the valley, the only tracked part of this trip is the track in Falls Creek.
Camping Options:
At the start of your trip there is a DOC campsite next to Lake Gunn so this would be a great place to camp the night before your trip.
At the mouth of Melita Stream there is a nice spot for a tent or two and you could camp on the saddle (1309) or in the head of Melita Stream or in the head of Falls Creek.
