This route branches off of the Ellis Hut - South Twin route (see elsewhere on this site) about 45 mins from Ellis Hut.

The point of this route is to lead you through some very difficult and confusing terrain to the top of the Karst at 1620m in 1Hr 15min from the turn-off.

The route does NOT lead to the top of North Twin, only to the top of the Karst, but the climb is well worth it. Anyone attempting to climb North Twin will need to find their own route from 1620m. While it is possible to do an extreme scramble to the summit, It is advisable to have some basic climbing gear including a rope as the descent is treacherous.
