Steepface Hill

I headed up here at the weekend. I followed Terrible Gully, then the tributary on the true right. This becomes narrow, with a little waterfall. At this point I bailed and pushed out onto the golden slope between the two streams. This was OK, but eventually became a scree slope and made climbing hard. I took the spur route down which was much easier travel. That's the way I would recommend, in retrospect. Heard falcon at about 1000m in Terrible Gully, and saw a couple of prostrate kowhai as well. My times were about 4 hours up (including about 30 minutes backtracking) and 2.5 down.
