Very good scenery on northern side. South face isn't so good but it does mean you can make the loop. Track in excellent condition and well graded. Would be good for children. I have a full report with photos here https://fastforwardlife.wordpress.com/2015/12/09/mt-somers/ | |

Walked the Miners track to Woolshed Creek hut on the Saturday of the long weekend, with my son Jamie and his friend Joe. Norwest blowing so wet and windy in the mountains. Lots of trampers - 47 at Woolshed (sleeps 26) - so make sure you bring a tent at the weekends. On to Pinnacles the next day (39 people there that night - sleeps 19) with sun and a cold wind. Mondays walk out to Sharplin Falls is the hardest - lots of up and down to side creeks. The waterfall along the way is great though. I'd really recommend the Miners track as a great overnight stay for families with young kids, and the three day tramp as a great one for teenagers. | |
