Got to Casey Hut Site late. Still good light 8.40pm. Day-trip to Lake Minchin & back. Leave your pack @ Poulter Hut. Good tenting sites by permanent water flows on Aeroplane Flat. Sandflies didn't find me on mass until 6pm :) Saw the grassy site on Binser Saddle. Water WAS trickling a few minutes away, but how desperate would you need to be ?.

I walked this track with friends over two hot Canterbury days. In terms of physical effort, I would rate it M for moderate, rather than E for easy.

Took Andrews Stream to Casey Hut (5hrs45) and then day trip to Lake Minchin the next day (5hrs30). Took Binser Saddle out (7hrs30). Found the trip out the Poulter arduous and if we had taken a tent would have undertaken a few hours of that stretch on Day 2 to make Day 3 easier. Not too challenging - a good warm up tramp for the summer.
